About Dr. Bermudez
Dr. Bermudez grew up in San Francisco, CA before moving to Northeast Ohio. He began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, graduating in 1999. Following his medical education, he completed an internship at Doctors Hospital in Massillon, OH, before pursuing an Internal Medicine Residency at Summa Health System in Akron, OH, which he completed in 2002. Dr. Bermudez completed an American Osteopathic Association approved fellowship in Mohs Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology in Tulsa, OK through Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010.
Dr. Bermudez is a passionate educator and leader in dermatologic surgery. In addition to his current role for the fellowship, he is an Adjunct Professor of Dermatology and Mohs Surgery at Campbell University’s Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition, he is the Director of Mohs Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery for the Dermatology Residency at Campbell University/Sampson Regional Medical Center.
His passion for dermatology led him to a residency at Summa Health System. Dr. Bermudez further specialized in Mohs Surgery by completing a Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology (Mohs) fellowship at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, OK, under the leadership of Dr. Edward Yob.
Dr. Bermudez’s contributions to the field are also reflected in his numerous publications in the dermatology and dermatologic surgery literature. His areas of expertise include Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Reconstructive Facial Surgery for post-Mohs defects, Dermatologic Surgery, Dermatology, and Melanoma. Under Dr. Bermudez’s leadership, our Mohs Fellowship Program continues to thrive, providing fellows with unparalleled training and expertise in the field of Mohs Surgery. His dedication to medical education, patient care, and professional advancement ensures that our program remains at the cutting edge of dermatologic surgery.
Dr. Bermudez enjoys giving lectures at National and local Dermatology and Mohs meetings. He enjoys teaching medical students and dermatology residents at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
In his free times, he enjoys cooking, exercising, golfing, reading and spending time with his wife and children.
