About Dr. Hunter

Dr. Abigail “Abby” Hunter was raised in Huffman, Texas and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology. After graduating, Dr. Hunter worked in the healthcare information technology industry for several years. During this time, she participated in two medical mission trips, where she discovered medicine was her calling. Dr. Hunter continued serving the underserved in medical school and developed a passion for dermatology. She graduated from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine with honors and is a member of Sigma Sigma Phi. Dr. Hunter completed her intern year at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC, before beginning her dermatology residency with Campbell University, then joining Atlantic Dermatology as a board-certified dermatologist.  

 

Dr. Hunter’s expertise includes treating skin cancer, acne, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis, and she specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery. One of her favorite aspects of dermatology is the opportunity to make a visible difference in her patients’ lives. The ability to treat conditions that can significantly impact self-esteem and quality of life is incredibly motivating for her. Dr. Hunter is guided by values of compassion, education, and patient empowerment, striving to provide personalized care that addresses both physical and emotional needs.
