Dr. Crane grew up on Long Island, New York, and graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After a one-year rotating internship and three years of dermatology training at Lower Cape Fear Dermatology Clinic in North Carolina, he opened his office in Wilmington in 1994.
He’s a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. He has published more than 100 research articles in the field of dermatology, serving as principal investigator on many of them.
The program director for the Sampson Regional Medical Center, Dr. Crane, practices general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and is a pioneer in innovating laser treatments, using technology such as the Smartskin+ by CynosureⓇ. Dr. Christopher Cook, DO FAAD FAOCD is a board-certified dermatologist who combines his love for patient care with his passion for science. This combination enables him to provide every patient with the experience they need to have the best possible outcomes. At Atlantic Dermatology, Dr. Cook treats a wide variety of skin conditions and diseases, including inflammatory conditions, infections, aging-related issues, skin cancer and autoimmune disorders. In addition, Dr. Cook has received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Mohs Micrographic Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. Mohs surgery is the most precise method of skin cancer surgery that removes a tumor in “real time”; this requires extensive training, as the surgeon functions as the pathologist as well. This specialized type of skin cancer removal is associated with a lower recurrence rate and superior cosmetic result compared to conventional wide local excision. Dr. Cook performs Mohs Surgery at the Wilmington & Clinton offices.
Drawn to the science behind excellent skin care, Dr. Cook completed a one-year melanoma research fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, before beginning his dermatology residency. The results from his team’s studies were presented at the 2011 International Melanoma Congress and published in the Journal of Pigment Cell and Melanoma Research. Dr. Cook has also studied new treatment options for seborrheic keratosis (noncancerous growths); he was the principal investigator on a new photodynamic therapy option for the treatment of this disease. In addition, Dr. Cook enjoys giving back to his profession and is heavily involved in training the dermatology residents from Campbell University at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Rene Bermudez, DO, FAAD, FAOCD
Dr. Bermudez grew up in San Francisco, CA before moving to Northeast Ohio. He attended undergraduate school at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. He graduated medical school from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 1999. After completing an internship at Doctors Hospital in Massillon,OH, he went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at Summa Health System in Akron, OH. He then completed a dermatology residency at Summa Health and graduated in 2005. Dr. Bermudez completed an American Osteopathic Association approved fellowship in Mohs Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology in Tulsa, OK through Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010.
Dr. Bermudez is board certified in Dermatology by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology and received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Mohs Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. He is currently the chair of the Mohs Committee of the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology where he has served as a board member since 2013. He is currently a fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a member of the American Society of Mohs Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Bermudez enjoys giving lectures at National and local Dermatology and Mohs meetings. He enjoys teaching medical students and dermatology residents at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
In his free times, he enjoys cooking, exercising, golfing, reading and spending time with his wife and children.
Ashley Rice, DO, FAAD
Dr. Ashley Rice is a board-certified dermatologist at Atlantic Dermatology, PA, with a focus in medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, Mohs micrographic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology, treating both adult and pediatric patients.
Dr. Rice completed her undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and a minor in dance. She is an honors graduate of Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. Her postdoctoral training includes Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine/Sampson Regional Medical Center for her transitional year internship and dermatology residency, where she served as chief resident her final year of training.
She has authored many peer-reviewed articles and presented at several regional and national dermatologic conferences, including the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology Fall Meeting, North Carolina Dermatology Association Annual Meeting, and OhioHealth Research Symposium. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and Women’s Dermatologic Society.
Dr. Rice has been passionate about dermatology since struggling with her own skin issues. She strives to be a compassionate and empathetic physician and to continue furthering her knowledge in the field. In addition, she hopes to work in partnership with patients as a team in order to achieve their best skin health. Dr. Rice’s interests within dermatology include skin cancer prevention, diagnosis and surgical removal of skin cancer, rashes, acne, and cosmetic procedures.
Outside of work, Dr. Rice enjoys spending time with her husband, Patrick, and their standard goldendoodle, Max. She also loves hiking, traveling, dancing, and swimming at Wrightsville Beach.
Blair Harris, DO
Blair Harris, DO
Dr. Blair Harris was born and raised in northern Utah. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in finance. After working as a financial analyst at Lockheed Martin in southern California for three years, he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.
Dr. Harris attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University in Yakima, Washington. While in medical school, he was elected to a position in student government and enjoyed serving his fellow students. His leadership position enabled him to institute multiple organizational changes including implementing mental health resources, student support groups, and financial tracking instruments for the student government organization at PNWU.
Dr. Harris developed a love for dermatology while volunteering as a camp counselor at Camp Discovery, a summer camp for children with dermatologic skin conditions. He enjoys all aspects of dermatology, but found special interest in procedural and surgical dermatology, which led him to pursue a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
When he’s not performing surgery, you can find Blair spending time with his wife and two daughters, exercising, enjoying the beaches, or doing projects around the house.
Mikél Elizabeth Muse, DO
Dr. Mikél Elizabeth Muse grew up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland for her undergraduate degree in Public Health Studies. Dr. Muse then worked for several years as an HIV counselor at a homeless shelter and as an medical assistant in a Mohs surgery at Anne Arundel Dermatology in Annapolis, Maryland, where she initially became interested in pursuing a career in dermatology.
She attended medical school at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, SC and Blacksburg, VA. Following medical school, Dr. Muse completed her transitional year of medicine training locally at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC. She completed research in dermatology at Wake Forest University with publications focusing on psoriasis, wart, and ulcer treatments. Dr. Muse completed her dermatology residency through Campbell University in Wilmington, NC. Her dermatologic interests include treating skin cancer, procedural dermatology, and volunteering with international health grassroots non-profit organizations in Africa.
Outside of dermatology, she enjoys hiking, painting, exploring Wilmington’s food scene, riding on her dad’s fishing boat, and walking her dog, Kiwi.
Patricia Hood, PA-C
Patricia is a certified physician assistant at Atlantic Dermatology and is dedicated to medical and cosmetic dermatology, treating all ages, from pediatric to geriatric. Prior to focusing on dermatology, she spent eight years practicing family medicine, where she was exposed to a wide variety of medical conditions, including those dermatology related. She is particularly interested in the latest biologic treatment options for psoriasis patients. She has participated in the study and research of the
treatment of psoriasis, along with actinic keratosis and atopic dermatitis. Patricia enjoys all aspects of general medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Carla Rohena, PA-C
Carla is a certified physician assistant specializing in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. She began her career with Atlantic Dermatology in 2002. In 2006, she joined the Wilmington Treatment Center, where she focused on the diagnosis and management of chronic illnesses, as well as the treatment of addiction including detoxification regimens. Carla joined DermOne in 2013. When DermOne closed their practices in March of 2018, Carla rejoined Atlantic Dermatology. Carla welcomes patients of all ages and skin types.

Brianna Wheeler, FNP-C
Brianna is a certified family nurse practitioner who grew up in Wilmington, NC. She began her nursing career as a licensed professional nurse at Atlantic Dermatology in 2006, where she assisted the providers with all cosmetic and medical procedures, including Mohs surgery. Brianna continued to advance her nursing education and became a registered nurse. While working as the clinical supervisor, she continued her education at night and completed her master’s degree in nursing from Frontier Nursing University to become a board-certified nurse practitioner. Brianna is dedicated to treating all ages, and all skin types, for their medical and cosmetic dermatology needs.
Channing Broyan, PA-C
Channing joined Atlantic Dermatology after practicing medicine in urgent care, gaining experience with various skin conditions and procedures. She earned her Master of Science in PA Studies from The University of Pittsburgh. She did most of her clinical rotations at the UPMC university teaching hospitals and graduated with honors. She completed her undergraduate degree at The Pennsylvania State University and graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a Minor in Psychology. Channing loves general and surgical dermatology; she strives to continue to further her knowledge in the field. She is passionate about helping her patients be healthy and happy in their everyday lives.
